Bangladesh is the largest and the youngest delta in the world. The country has the largest mangrove forest in the world, the Sundarbans, which is a natural world heritage designated by the UNESCO. The forest is the largest home in the world to the wild Royal Bengal Tiger. A visit to the emerald green Sundarbans makes one feel the nature by heart. The single largest Buddhist monastery, the Paharpur Mahavihara, is in Bangladesh. This great Buddhist monastery, built in the 8th century AD, is also a world heritage.
Bangladesh is dotted with many more ancient tantric Buddhist monasteries, stupas and temples; a tour to them takes one back to the ancient time.
Ancient mosques, old Portuguese, Anglican, and Armenian churches, and old Hindu terracotta temples are other attractions of the country.
The heaven for bird watchers, Tanguar Haor, a RAMSAR site, is a unique wetland ecosystem of international importance. In the beginning of every winter (November) thousands of migratory birds of about two hundred types flock to the wetland flying more than five thousand kilometers from the cold parts of Siberia. A visit to the haor takes one to the unspoiled natur.
Bangladesh is home to about 400 wild Asian elephants - an endangered mammal. Teknaf Game reserve, a part of one of the country's two major wild elephant trails, located at the southeast corner of the country, is bounded by the Naf River from the east and by the Bay of Bengal from the west.
Sangsad Bhaban- the Parliament House of the country is one of the best examples of the modern architecture in the world.
